Richard Severns

Associate Lecturer and Researcher (Criminology & Criminal Justice)

Sheffield, UK

I retired from the Derbyshire Constabulary in 2009 in the rank of Detective Inspector after completing 30 years service. Thereafter, I attended Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and graduated from there on 17th November 2015 with a Professional Doctorate in International Criminal Justice (DICJ). I became an associate lecturer at SHU whilst completing my studies. I have taught on undergraduate and postgraduate modules, supervised dissertation research and assisted colleagues in developing research opportunities. My areas of interest are policing and the organised crime/terrorism nexus. The subject of my DICJ thesis was the police transnational firearms intelligence network.
