Climate Policy and Vulnerable Coastal Communities in South Korea

As climate change accelerates, coastal cities in South Korea face an increasing risk to their sustainable survival. However, climate policy and national projects have not appropriately reflected these continuously increasing risks. This study focuses on Korean coastlines and local communities in as attempt to connect national policies with regional diversity. This research includes a literature review and expert interviews that trace historical changes and highlight the various projects undertaken by the Korean government. This study diagnoses the current status of such efforts and suggests policy recommendations for the Korea government.
